The AX-1B is a lightweight, 45-note MIDI keyboard controller with a unique guitar-like design. The controllers on the AX-1B are situated on the neck to enhance live performance playability.
The limited edition AX-1B strap-on remote MIDI controller has a 45-note velocity sensitive keyboard, switchable velocity curves, octave up/down, transpose, split/layering zones, tempo control for sequencers and more. It has built-in GS control for complete MIDI control of GM/GS synths. The "Expression Bar" controls pitch and mod via a ribbon-like controller. This is the latest and best remote controller for your synths or midi modules.
The Roland AX-1B is a limited-edition black keytar (a shoulder-held clavier keyboard worn like a guitar), produced by Roland, that does not produce its own sounds but controls other devices (such as keyboards, sound modules and samplers) via MIDI. The industrial design of the Roland AX-1 was done in a basement studio in London, U.K. by two designers, David Sherriff and Andrew Leggo, who ran a small design studio called Space Logic. The electronic design and engineering was done by Roland Europe, Italy.
The Roland AX-1B has a pitch bend ribbon and a touchpad-like expression bar on its neck. It also has a sustain switch on the back of its neck for ease of playing. It has 45 velocity sensitive keys. It does not produce its own sounds but must be plugged into a MIDI device in order to be played.
This instrument functions as a MIDI controller - it produces MIDI messages that are sent to an external synthesizer or sound module. (Thus it produces no sound on its own.) It is fully compatible with General MIDI, General MIDI Level 2, and Roland's own GS MIDI implementation. It can store up to 32 patches.
The Roland AX-1B is a nice looking, black lightweight remote keyboard ("keytar") that allows the keyboard player to move around in the same way as a guitar player. It is related to Roland AX-30 MID Control Keyboard and does not contain any sounds.

HOW TO PROGRAM THE AX-1B:
1.Press PATCH to turn off the patch mode
2.Press PROGRAM CHANGE
3.Enter the number of the sound you want (i.e. 51)
4.Press ENTER
5.The AX-1B will now be playing this sound
To put it into a preset patch number, Press and hold the WRITE button and press the Patch number you want this sound in.
You can turn or off the source instrument's Reverb and Chorus. After you have done this turn them on or off and then press WRITE and the Patch number again.
